    2004 MTSF Volunteer Deployment Program

    Information Sheet

In order to be a part of the MTSF Volunteer Deployment, the RNC would like to make sure that each volunteer gets approval from their supervisor to participate in the deployment program. Since you will be volunteering for the RNC and will be deployed to a state party there are different legal requirements you must follow in regards to your time away from work. Depending on your job, please make sure you are following all rules and regulations of your organization.

If you work for the Executive Branch of the federal government, on Capitol Hill, at a corporation, or with a trade association, there are two options for you:
1.) You can take vacation (or)
2.) You can take unpaid leave

Please check with your supervisor as to the best option for your situation. If a volunteer does not fit into one of the above two categories, please contact Shelby Watts to make sure the volunteer is given the correct information.

All volunteers need to be aware that by accepting an airline ticket from the RNC for the purpose of volunteer deployment, it is understood that they are in compliance with the rules of their respective employer as required in order to be a volunteer of the Volunteer Deployment Program.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) MAY be responsible for the following items:

1.) Airfare—MTSF members will be asked to pay their own way. In the event a MTSF volunteer cannot pay, the RNC will pay airfare. (If the RNC pays, they will make all of reservations to and from one’s assigned city).
    • Since the RNC may be paying for the air transportation of each person volunteering in the program, this will be an in-kind transfer to each state party. There is not a limit to the amount each state party can receive as long as only federal dollars are used.
2.) Meal Expenses—MTSF members will be asked to pay their own way. In the event a MTSF volunteer cannot pay, the RNC will pay meal expenses. (A per diem rate of $25 a day will be reimbursed for every full day of volunteering. A per diem rate of $15 a day will be reimbursed for every day spent traveling to and from your destination. You will be given a reimbursement sheet in your deployment packet in order to keep track of your expenses. Any amount spent over these per diem rates will be the responsibility of the purchaser.)
3.) Ground Transportation—Depending on your deployment area the RNC will assign a rental car to a team of volunteers.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is NOT responsible for the following items:

1.) Ground transportation to and from the airport (includes taxis, train tickets and gas,) cell phone expenses, speeding or parking tickets and office supplies

    State Party Responsibilities:

Housing—MTSF members will be asked to pay their own way. In the event that a MTSF volunteer cannot pay, the state party will pay housing expenses.
The state party will provide all housing needs during your stay. Everyone will know his or her arrangements before leaving for their assignment.
